Database Management
A step-by-step guide to setting up MySQL databases, importing SQL dumps, and obtaining database credentials in VistaPanel.
Watch this video to learn how to create MySQL databases and access phpMyAdmin in your hosting control panel:
Dynamic applications like WordPress, custom PHP scripts, and forums require a MySQL Database to store posts, user profiles, and site settings. On Scynr Free Hosting, databases are managed through VistaPanel and phpMyAdmin.
💡 System Prefix Notice: To ensure security on shared hosting servers, all database names and database usernames are automatically prefixed with your account ID (e.g., epiz_12345678_dbname).
Log in to your VistaPanel at http://cpanel.host.scynr.xyz.
Scroll down to the Databases section and click on MySQL Databases.
Under Create a New Database, enter a short database name into the input field.
Click Create Database.
MySQL Hostname: Displayed on the MySQL Databases page (e.g., sqlXXX.scynr.xyz). *(Do NOT use `localhost`)*.
Database Name: The full string including prefix (e.g., epiz_12345678_mydb).
MySQL Username: Your main VistaPanel account ID (e.g., epiz_12345678).
MySQL Password: Your main VistaPanel account password.
If you are transferring a site or installing a custom script, follow these steps to import an existing .sql database file:
In VistaPanel, go to Databases $\rightarrow$ phpMyAdmin.
Find your newly created database in the list and click Connect / Admin beside it.
Inside phpMyAdmin, click the Import tab at the top menu bar.
Click Choose File and select your .sql file from your computer.
Scroll down and click the Go button to run the import process.
🎉 Import Complete: A green notification banner will display showing the total number of SQL queries successfully executed.
This usually occurs when using `localhost` as the database host instead of the specific MySQL server hostname provided inside VistaPanel (e.g., `sql123.host.scynr.xyz`). Always copy the exact MySQL Hostname listed on your **MySQL Databases** dashboard page.
The web-based phpMyAdmin import upload limit is 10 MB. For larger database files, compress your database into a `.zip` or `.gz` archive before uploading, or split the `.sql` file into smaller parts.
If you receive SQL syntax errors or execution timeouts during import, open a ticket for technician assistance.
